  1. To monitor the septic shock patient, major hemodynamic variables are assessed non-invasively, mainly by semi-quantitation. Systemic arterial resistances, together with indices of global perfusion, cannot be measured with echocardiography, but vasodilatation can be diagnosed with exclusion criteria.
